Gratefull and Thankful
A little over a month ago, I was driving to Woodward, OK on a Saturday evening fully expecting to meet the local pastor I was preaching for dinner, rest, and then preach Sunday morning. Little did I know that God's protection was about to be displayed in a BIG way!
After having played 36 holes of golf at a beautiful course in OKC, I was following a friend of mine on I-40 heading west. He quickly swerved to the left and there I was at 70 mph facing a large semi-truck tire laying in the road. I had 2 seconds to decide what to do. Thank God our spirit operates at a faster pace than our heads.
I suddenly knew that if I hit this tire (which was standing up), I would go left and down a 70' embarkment, not a good option. I knew if I went left I would lose control of the car, too much speed, too little time and space. Three days before I had put two new motor mounts in this car. The day before in a VBI class I was teaching and telling the students that God's protection is ours because of the Blood Covenant we have with Jesus!
I know the Spirit of God impressed me to go left, and I did. I did lose control of the van, hit a concrete barrier on a bridge, head on at 65-70 mph. The air bag deployed after my chest hit the steering wheel, which was good because it only deployed half way, staying out of my face, and allowing me to see. Had I missed the bridge to the left I would have been going down a 70' embankment. I hit the concrete barrier, and headed down the bridge spinning and doing 360's.
I said twice, "Lord, just don't let me hit anything else." My friend watching in his rear view mirror said twice,"Lord, Jere cannot die today, he has too much work left to do." As the car slowed down, not hitting anything else, it almost came to a complete stop and then took off again, this time going the direction I had just come from. I was staring at 3 semi-trucks who had time to stop as did all the rest of the traffic.
The car took off again and hit another concrete barrier but this time at 30 mph, alot easier hit than the first one. Had it gone left, another 70' embankment. My friend said the van should have gone off the bridge which would have been a 50' drop down to a concrete highway.
The car stuck into the bridge and stopped there. I turned off the car and got out. None of the windows and windshield broke, they stayed fully intact. Another miracle! Once out of the car, I noticed I only had a small scratch on my wrist from my watch. No injuries! God had just saved my life!!!
Four people came to my aide, they were amazed at my condition, no injuries! The fire fighters took my vitals and were shocked at my numbers. They were just alittle above normal readings, they said they should have been off the charts. I thought," that is the peace of God that is above all understanding."
My road car was not totaled. After 249,000 miles it had come to it's end. The good news, God replaced the van with a car within 9 days of the accident, just in time for 4 upcoming ministry road trips! And the best news, the car is paid for with no debt! God is so good!!
Let me encourage you, we serve a God of protection, and provision. He has seen ahead and will protect you and provide for you as well. Know this, your best days lay ahead of you. The finest He has, is yours today! Possess the promises of God, and live in His abundace.
He loves you! I am so thankful and grateful that He was there for me and He will be there for you as well. Keep Him first in your life, and watch Him go to work on your behalf. You can trust Him!
Blessings my friend,
Jere
